WELCOME TO SHUMARDII'S...
where we offer an atmosphere of quiet elegance in dining under the great Red Oak trees. The Shumard Red Oak (scientific name: quercus shumardii) is one of the largest Southern Red Oaks. It's lustrous green summer foliage turns to a brilliant red-orange in the fall. Unlike regular red oaks, its acorns and leaves are modest sized, but ultimately the tree itself grows just as large. The Shumard Red Oak is named for Benjamin Franklin Shumard (1820-1869), the State geologist of Texas in 1860.
